Halle Berry

You Remember Her In: “Boomerang,” “The Flintstones,” “B*A*P*S”

Halle Berry’s breakthrough acting role came in the 1992 movie “Boomerang.” From there, she was launched to stardom, appearing in numerous films and TV shows throughout the 1990s. She became the first Black woman to win the Oscar for Best Actress. Today, she’s acting and producing films with her company 606 Productions. She recently made her directorial debut with the Netflix film “Bruised.”

Vivica A. Fox

You Remember Her In: “Independence Day,” “Set It Off,” “Batman & Robin”

Vivica A. Fox was everywhere in the 1990s. From action movies to dramas like “Soul Food,” to soap operas and sitcoms, audiences loved her memorable characters and performances. Today, she’s appearing in movies and on TV shows like “Black-ish” and “The Masked Singer,” as well as producing.

Queen Latifah

You Remember Her In: “Living Single,” “Set It Off,” “The Queen Latifah Show”

Queen Latifah, AKA Dana Owens, started her stage career as a rapper in the late 1980s, moving into acting in the early 1990s. Since then, she has become one of the first hip-hop artists to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She continues to act in numerous well-received films, and currently plays the lead role in the CBS action drama “The Equalizer.”

Nia Long

You Remember Her In: “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Friday,” “Boyz N The Hood”

Nia Long is perhaps best known for her role as Beulah “Lisa” Wilkes, Will Smith’s fiancée on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” While her roles in the 90s were beloved and iconic, she also was very active in the 2000s, starting with her star turn in “Big Momma’s House.” Recently, Nia Long has reprised her role from “The Best Man” in the Peacock miniseries “The Best Man: The Final Chapters,” and starred in the Netflix thriller “Fatal Affair.”

Tia Mowry

You Remember Her In: “Sister Sister,” “Twitches,” “Detention”

The Mowry sisters are often grouped as one entity, but they’re two different, excellent Black actresses. Of course Tia Mowry starred in “Sister Sister” with her twin, but she also took voice roles for cartoons like “Detention.” Today, you can likely find Tia in the kitchen– she’s published several cookbooks and hosted her own cooking show on the Cooking Channel– or starring in the Netflix series “Family Reunion.”

Tamera Mowry

You Remember Her In: “Sister Sister,” “The Adventures of Hyperman,” “Strong Medicine”

It was always Tia AND Tamera in the 1990s– the sisters were almost always together, appearing in all kinds of shows for tweens and teens. But since then, they’ve taken many different roles and frankly, deserve to be thought of as two people, not just sisters. Since the 1990s, Tamera Mowry has been a host on various talk shows, for which she won a Daytime Emmy. She has also taken a few movie and TV acting roles but is clearly thriving as a presenter and host!
